Soapy All Natural Handmade Soaps are simple luxury that You can treat Yourself to during every bath. Not only functioning as a cleanser, these soaps are so mild and moisturising, that Your skin will fall in love with it.

Special and natural ingredients that benefit the skin are carefully selected to be included in the soaps, replacing the functions of synthetic chemicals. These natural ingredients ike essential oil (oils that are distilled/ cold press from plants), herbs, grains and many more also release nice natural aroma, making bath time an unforgettable experience. Fillers like grinded coffees, seeds or grains assist to gently exfoliate dead skin. Goat milk, honey, beewax or cocoa butter give luxury feel to the skin, which are also known for centuries and used by many to beautify their skin naturally. No matter what type of skin that You have, sure there is a handmade soap to pamper You.

Soapy All Natural Handmade Soaps are made in Malaysia by hand at our facility in Johor Bahru. Soapy Sdn Bhd was incorporated in 2006, to manufacture all kinds of handmade soaps. To ensure that only good quality soaps are release for Your use, our facility and processes are set to meet the cosmetic GMP standard as certified by Malaysia Pharmaceutical Control Bureau. These soaps are registered/ notified with the Malaysia Health Minister (Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia).

Some may ask if it is necessary to use natural product on our skin, which cost more. It is a choice You made. Next time before You use a skin care product, take sometime to read and get to know the list of ingredients used on the product label. Do not put off by the long scientific name and believe in all the claims that it makes. Do simple research and decide for Yourself.

Unknown to many, most of the products over the counter these days may contain ingredient(s) that agitate skin. If not careful, prolong use may lead to sensitive skin. Due to this factor, there is an increasing trend of people switching to natural products. This trend is not left unknown by big manufacturers, which they too start claiming their products as "100% natural" to make it more marketable and selling it with bigger profit. The truth is "100% natural", "natural" or similar terms are not regulated. A product contains fraction of natural extract may also be claimed as "100% natural" product.

As a manufacturer, we can tell you how good our products are but at the end of the day, we want You to be knowledgeable enough to decide for Yourself, the type of products that best suit You.

Environmental Concerns

Our policy is to minimised the usage of packaging materials and purchase biodegradable or recycleable packaging material for fulfillment of Your order. We will also reuse boxes and styrofoam peanuts obtained from items shipped to us, and hope You will reuse Your shipping materials too!

We transfer the money saved on packaging materials to ingredients used in our soapmaking.

Animal Ingredients and Animal Testing

All Soapy All Natural Handmade soaps or any products that bear Soapy brand have not been tested on animals. We test our soap on willing family, friends and ourselves.

Soapy handmade soaps also do not contain animal fat like tallow. The only animal source ingredients that we include in our soaps are fresh goat milk and honey. For Your convenient, please refer to the ingredients used which are listed according to the soap variant.

Sodium Hydroxide and Truth in Labelling

We practice labelling all the ingredients used in our soap on our soap label to promote transparency.  This includes one of the ingredients called Sodium Hydroxide. Many have asked us what is Sodium Hydroxide?  A simple search in the website, You'll find that as itself, it is a harsh alkaline salt.

However, in final product of soap, sodium hydroxide does not exit anymore.  To elaborate further, here's a simple illustration of the chemistry process called saponification that created soap.

Free Fatty Acid (from oil) + Sodium Hydroxide (alkali) = Soap + Glycerin.

Sodium Hydroxide function as the alkali that reacts with the free fatty acid from the oil (saponifaction process) to become soap and glycerin.  In the old days, wood ash is used to obtain sodium hydroxide by straining water through the ashes. The quality of the alkaline obtained is unpreditable due to contamination and often results in inconsistent soap quality (too harsh or too soft). Modern times, to achieve a more reliable quality, sodium hydroxide is produced in factory with controlled environment and the quality is checked for consistency.

In order to ensure that all sodium hydroxide use in our soap making react with the free fatty acid in the oil, we superfat our soap at 5% (means there is about 5% of oil that do not react with alkali).  This 5% extra oil give mildness and moisturising quality to the soap.

Undeniable fact, handmade bar soaps and natural soaps in the market is created using sodium hydroxide as the alkali.  Since there are a number of ways to list the ingredients used on the label, many choose to list them as after saponifation process, e.g., saponified oil (means oil that has already react with sodium hydroxide), sodium palmate/ coconate/ etc (chemical name of soap according to the type of oil used).  Many also choose to totally ignore this ingredient that they have used and omit it out when they label their ingredient list.

We labelled our soaps according to the international labeling standard as part of the requirement as a cGMP manufacturer.  The ingredients used are labelled as before saponification process for transparency.

The next time when You come across any products and are in doubt of the information on the label, You may check with the distributor/ manufacturer for the full list.

Untrimmed Soap

Most of our soaps especially the rectangle ones are left untrimmed for a rugged look to show originality. Untrimmed soaps are also heavier, e.g., 100g bar of soap may weight more, as much as 10% more. However, less worry, we QC final soaps' weight, i.e., You'll never received a soap lesser than the intended weight.
